Skiiers and snowboarders have been treated to a spectacular week at Whistler Blackcomb. With 100cms of new snow in the last 7 days, conditions have been superb. We hope you had a chance to enjoy all the powder! And more is on the way…
Thursday marked the beginning of the one year countdown until Whistler and Vancouver is host to the 2010 Olympics. Whistler celebrated with an outdoor ceremony where the Olympic torch was unveiled. The torch will travel 45,000km across Canada, taking over 100 days, making it the longest torch relay within the host country. The Olympic competition will begin at Whistler Olympic Park on February 12, 2010 where Whistler will be hosting the alpine, sliding and ski jumping events. Be sure to check out the free concerts in the Whistler Village Centre February 13th, 14th and 15th.
Last weekend was the first World Cup event for Ski Jumping in the Callaghan Valley. What a great day! The sun was shining and spectators from across the globe were cheering on their favorite athletes.
Although the parking proved a bit difficult, it was certainly worth it once we got to the venue. It was a battle to the end but the Austrians came out on top with the winner jumping 149 metres!
